The Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council is a membership and service association comprising more than 135 hospitals and health care organizations working together, since 1935. It is located in Chicago, and also has associate members that include hospitals outside these counties, physician groups, nursing homes, outpatient treatment centers, insurers, medical schools and other health care organizations. It develops and provides a variety of economy programs for its customers. It also provides research work, forecasting and communicating pertinent information. The council provides educational forums to enhance management, clinical and administrative skills. The Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council operates the Illinois Poison Center that offers treatment advice and information about various types of poisoning hazards, including household products, overdoses, alcohol and drug misuse, gaseous fumes, insect or animal bites and hazardous materials.
