Established in 1965, the Department of Family Medicine & Community Health is managed by the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, which is a part of the University of Miami. The department offers international family medicine education opportunities. It also provides postgraduate fellowship options in obstetrics, geriatrics, and sports and family medicine. The Department of Family Medicine & Community Health manages a primary care and health services research and development division. The department administers a predoctoral education program that focuses on the importance of disease prevention and health promotion. It additionally manages a family medicine residency program.
