Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative is a nonprofit electric distribution utility headquartered in Lexington, S.C. The cooperative is owned by the more than 40,000 customers - its member-owners - who reside in Lexington, Richland, Newberry, Saluda and Aiken counties. MCEC is the fifth largest of the 20 electric cooperatives in South Carolina. Together these cooperatives serve more than 500,000 members in more than 70 percent of the state. Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative has added an action-packed Kids Korner using colorful animations, playful graphics, interactive games, puzzles, science experiments, house projects and online coloring books. The Kids Korner explores everything from power generation sources, transmission and distribution to electrical safety, energy efficiency and utility careers.
