Founded in 1966, Middle East Studies Association focuses on promoting the study on the Middle East through scholarships and teaching. Based in Tucson, Ariz., the association encourages the public understanding of the Middle East region and its peoples through programs, publications and services. It collaborates with scholars, educators and people interested in the study of the region from all over the world. Middle East Studies Association is a constituent society of the American Council of Learned Societies, National Council of Area Studies Associations and is a member of the National Humanities Alliance. The association offers publications, such as the International Journal of Middle East Studies, MESA Review of Middle East Studies and a quarterly newsletter.
