Founded in 1975, Minneapolis American Indian Center is one of the oldest Indian community centers in the United States providing various educational and social services. Based in Minneapolis, Minn., the center serves American Indians in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul focusing on preserving American Indian cultural traditions through arts, youth and intergenerational programs. It engages in creating awareness for strengthening and developing life skills of native youth, along with promoting drug and alcohol free lifestyle. Additionally, Minneapolis American Indian Center offers programs to aid the unemployed/economically disadvantaged American Indians and extends supportive services to senior citizens and indigenous women, victimized in domestic violence and human trafficking.
