Mission West Elementary School, built in 1991, enrolls more than 700 students in prekindergarten through grade five and offers a range of educational services. It is a Texas Education Agency-recognized school that offers a variety of academic subjects, such as music, physical education, art, computer science, math, social studies, English and science. Its library stocks a variety of reading and reference materials, as well as provides an online list of accelerated reader quizzes. The school offers special education, extended day care, English as a Second Language, reading recovery and Title I programs. The school s student council is designed for students in grades four and five to enhance leadership and responsibility. It has a team of counselors that provides guidance counseling to students.
