Informations
Monarch Child Development Center (MCDC) is a high quality Christian childcare center where learning and fun become one. We are committed to providing a fun-filled, rewarding program. We believe that a child's day must include personal attention, gentle guidance, developmentally appropriate activities, character-building values, singing, Art, Creative Movement, Reading, Math and problem-solving challenges. You can rest assured that your child is having fun learning and mastering important skills, as well as, developing Christian values by being exposed to lessons and curricular activities chosen by our professional team of experienced educators. Monarch Child Development Center is an exemplary institution designed to provide the highest quality of learning through a Christian based educational program that will prepare children for future success, thereby, building a life-long interest in learning. Monarch Child Development Center emphasizes the Christian family. We are dedicated to helping children and assisting parents by shepherding the spiritual growth and development of each child. To develop spiritually, it is important to build character by instilling values in children and teaching them about God. The following 7 values are emphasized in all MCDC's programs: Monarch Child Development Center's Executive Director, Revona Gatlin-Davis and Assistant Director, Devona Gatlin Martin are twin sisters, experienced in education and childcare, as well as, various aspects of managing a business. Mrs. Gatlin-Davis holds a Bachelor of Science in Child Development. She has been an instructor in parochial and Montessori schools and has held positions of increasing responsibility with one of the largest financial institutions for 10 years. She has served as a coordinator and board member for a community organization that offers activities designed to expand girls' understanding of their heritage through Christian fellowship, education, and social and cultural activities that increase girls' self-determination. Mrs. Martin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance. She has served as an Accounting Clerk for a neighborhood clinic, as well as, Treasurer for one of the community organizations to which she belongs. She taught for 8 years in the Houston Independent School District and possesses a Lifetime Teaching Certificate for grades first (1st) through sixth (6th). While teaching, she co-founded a girl's club called Rising on Self-Esteem (R.O.S.E.) which initiated positive activities so girls (grades 3 - 5) could obtain and maintain high self-esteem and self-pride.
