Founded in 1878, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, also known as MSPCC, is a private, nonprofit society that works to protect and promote the rights and well-being of children and families. It works with a team of more than 700 staff members. The society offers services to over 60,000 children and families annually. The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The society operates an after-hour helpline number that provides counseling and advocacy services. It offers mental health, family support, child abuse and neglect prevention, foster care, and adoptive parent training and support services.
