Informations
Mt. Olive Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. We hold true and respond to the love of the Triune God: *The Father, creator of all that exists *Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan *The Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God. We affirm the threefold emphasis of the Lutheran Reformation: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone: *Grace alone: God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him, and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly. *Faith alone: By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him. *Scripture alone: The Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16), in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine. Mt. Olive is a confessional Lutheran church that affirms the BOOK OF CONCORD (1580) to be faithful and true interpretations of the Holy Scriptures, the sole source and norm of all Christian teaching.

Our heartfelt desire is to embrace all people in the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. "Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 1334-35) The Mt. Olive congregation is made up of people who live throughout the greater Columbia area and the Midlands. Folks travel from as far as Lexington, Newberry, Elgin, and Orangeburg to worship each Sunday. Visit us for worship this Sunday and experienceaworshipservicethatfocuseson worshiping the Triune God with the traditional liturgy of the Church, inspirational hymns, and Holy Communion. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is the Holy Meal that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ instituted for his disciples to eat and to drink on the night before he died on the cross for our souls' salvation. (Matt. 2626-28, 1 Cor. 1123-25) In a most mysterious way, our Lord gives to us his true body and true blood to eat and to drink, "in, with, and under" the earthly gifts of bread and the wine, for the forgiveness of our sins, to strengthen our faith in him and our love for one another. Our Lord invites to his Holy Table his baptized followers who trust in his words, repent or all their sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive others. (Matt. 615) Every time we share this sacred meal, St. Paul teaches us that we proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. (1 Cor. 1126)
