A part of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Mid Atlantic Chapter offers a range of community-based services for individuals with multiple sclerosis. It provides advocacy, information and referral, and individual and family counseling services. The organization conducts teleconferences and on-line chat sessions, as well as maintains e-mail and telephone groups for children and youths. The Mid Atlantic Chapter offers educational programs for employers and health care professionals. Additionally, it provides vocational assessment, job skills training, resume writing and employment services. The organization also offers financial assistance with the repair and purchasing of walkers, grab bars, wheelchairs and bathroom safety equipment. The Mid Atlantic Chapter provides opportunities for various recreational and fitness activities. It offers self-help programs, as well as respite care services.
