Founded in 1949 to assist the hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees in Europe who had been displaced during World War II, the New York Association for New Americans mission is to aid immigrants to the United States. Since its founding, the organization has helped more than 500,000 people find a better life in America. Its programs include refugee resettlement, education, English language skills, legal services and citizenship, health and mental health services, workforce and economic development, community development and bi-culturation. The New York Association for New Americans has headquarters in New York. Its major contributors include American Express, Citibank, Hewlett-Packard, J.P. Morgan Chase, the New York Times and United Way.
