National Conference of State Legislatures, established in 1975, is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislatures and staffs of the states, commonwealths and territories in the United States. It provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on various state issues. It is also an advocate for the interests of the states before Congress and the federal government. It helps in drafting of bills; organizing state meetings, seminars and professional development workshops; and convene legislative-executive teams. The organization also publishes magazines and white papers on topics, such as state budgets, health care, education, human services, technology, criminal justice, legislative management, and energy and environment. National Conference of State Legislatures has offices in Denver and Washington, D.C.
