New Vistas is a part of the Center for Independent Living, which is a consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability, nonresidential and private nonprofit agency. New Vistas promotes independence and self-reliance through a variety of services for persons with disabilities and children with special needs and their families. It serves more than 1,000 consumers, including adults and children throughout New Mexico. The agency is comprised of over 50 staff members. Incorporated in 1971, New Vistas is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. New Vistas also offers independent living services, such as systemic and individual advocacy, skills training, peer support, and information and referral. It is a member of the New Mexico Centers for Independent Living Association. The agency maintains a location in Santa Fe, N.M.
