Dubbed the first medical mall, The Nix Health Care System is a comprehensive collection of healthcare facilities in San Antonio, Texas. It offers full inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services as well as services in nursing, behavioral health, rehabilitation and home health care. The system includes three facilities: The Nix Medical Center, the Nix Alamo Heights and the Nix Specialty Health Center. Nix Health Care System is also home to many medical firsts, including: the first hospital in San Antonio to offer lens implants and TAG laser ophthalmic surgery; the first hospital in San Antonio to open a Nuclear Medicine department and to offer radiation therapy; and the first physicians to perform bone scans. The Nix Health Care System was founded in 1930.
