Founded in 1957, the YAI National Institute for Disabilities Network is a nonprofit organization that serves developmental and learning disabled people and their families throughout the New York City. It offers a wide range of services, including health care, job training and placement, counseling, social activities and summer camp programs. YAI National Institute for Disabilities Network also conducts research into the specific needs of individuals and families cooping with disability and provides public information about the capabilities of disabled people. The organization was started as the Young Adult Institute, a social welfare agency for young adults with disabilities.
