Oakwood Secondary School, founded in 1951, is a coeducational independent day school offering educational instruction to students in grades seven through 12. The school has an enrollment of more than 400 students and has a student to teacher ratio of seven to one. It offers academic programs in computer, dance, English, foreign language, human development, math, music, humanities, physical education, theater arts, science, social studies and visual arts. Oakwood provides athletic programs for gifted and developing athlete in basketball, soccer, football and cross country. It publishes various magazines, including The Gorilla, Pan Paniscus, Lustro and yearbook. Each spring, the school reserves a day for parent-advisor conferences. Oakwood Secondary School is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and is located in North Hollywood, Calif.
