Located in San Antonio, Our Lady of the Lake University was founded in 1895 by the Sisters of the Congregation of Divine Providence. It is an independent, Catholic institution that offers various undergraduate and graduate courses. The university operates the School of Professional Studies, which is comprised of several academic departments that include education, communication disorders, psychology and sociology. Our Lady of the Lake University also provides bachelor's and master's degree programs accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and offers a dual-language certification option at the undergraduate level. It additionally offers free tutoring in a range of subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, history, biology, chemistry, physics, statistics, accounting, philosophy, literature and religion. The university is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
