Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a voluntary, early childhood parent education and family support program. The program provides practical suggestions on encouraging learning and managing challenging behaviors. It organizes group meetings that focus on parenting topics. Parents as Teachers also offers opportunities to participate in parent-child activities. It has a parent educator who administers screenings periodically, as well as the overall development of children. The program additionally provides opportunities for families to access other community services. It is one of the programs operated by Tulsa Public Schools, which is located in Tulsa, Okla., and governs various elementary, middle and high schools.
