Sonnie P. Penn Elementary School serves more than 550 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It is a Baldrige-in-Education school. The school offers a variety of facilities, including a media center, computer laboratory, gymnasium, science laboratory and regular classrooms. Its staff includes an academic coordinator, custodians and paraprofessionals. Sonnie P. Penn Elementary School offers a range of reading, music, special education, and gifted and talented programs. It also operates a library and media center that houses e-books, books and audiocassettes. The school conducts classes in health and physical education.
