Dr. Maria Perez-Montes is a native of Puerto Rico. She earned her Bachelor degree at the University of Puerto Rico and her medical degree at Ponce School of Medicine. Having being awarded a military scholarship, she completed her internship and residency in San Antonio at Brooke Army Medical Center. After serving seven years in the military, she decided to remain in Texas and settle in an area where she could provide services to a large Hispanic community. She was pleased to join Corpus Christi Women's Clinic in 1998 since they are among the ten largest Ob/Gyn practices in Texas, and Corpus Christi offered activities compatible with her lifestyle. At an early age, Dr. Perez-Montes decided she wanted to be in the medical field. "In elementary and high school, I was involved as a volunteer in the health system." She worked as a dental assistant prior to Medical school and visited the United States during vacations to teach preventative health care to migrant farm workers. Dr. Perez-Montes really enjoyed working with people and decided medicine was her call.
