The original and only Phil’s Shoe Store founded by Phil DiGiulio in 1952,is still owned and operated by his family today. Phillip DiGiulio worked with his father, who was an Italian tailor until he joined the army to serve our country in WWII. He went from being a young boy with knowledge of different trades to a man of many talents and occupations. He started out selling dry goods from the corner of Anchor and Loretto Streets directly across from St. Martin of Tours Parish, where he lived. St. Martin of Tours then asked Mr. DiGiulio to store the parishs' school uniform shoes. This is how Phillip DiGiulio, son, veteran, husband, father and loyal friend, started Phil’s Family Shoe Store in 1952 on the corner of Anchor Street and Loretto Avenue.Mr. DiGiulio was a man who had a big heart, and who knew the true meaning of family, friends, and loyalty.
That is what Phil’s Shoes was and is still about.
