The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is a nonprofit organization that works for the promotion and development of Pittsburgh's downtown cultural district. Founded in 1984, it is one of the largest property owners in Pittsburgh. The organization has restored historic theaters and constructed new performance venues. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust manages more than 1 million square feet of property. The organization also has commissioned public art projects and developed urban parks. It manages the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, which has a seating capacity of over 2,850 individuals. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust maintains the Pittsburgh Dance Council division. In addition, the organization operates an education and community engagement department.
