Founded in 1817, Poydras Home is a 60-plus-bed, nonprofit, private retirement center that offers a variety of care and support services for senior citizens. The center manages Hunter House, which is a special care unit for individuals suffering from Alzheimer s disease and dementia-related disorders. It provides the PHASE, which an adult day program. Poydras Home features a lawn, patio, outdoor gardens and walking paths. The center offers 24-hour nursing, laundry, pastoral counseling and psychosocial services. In addition, it operates Garden House, which is an apartment-style, independent living facility. Poydras Home also maintains a library and chapel.
