The Providence Communications Department is responsible for the installation and maintenance of various telecommunications systems and equipment that includes phones, two-way radios and computer networks. The department also processes police and fire calls, as well as coordinates emergency dispatches. In addition, the Providence Communications Department reviews several plans and conducts inspections for various fire alarm systems. It additionally participates in disaster drills that prepare city residents for hurricanes and other disasters. The department maintains a location in Providence, R.I.
