Providence Service Corporation was initially formed as a merger of two providers of behavioral health care for children and families in Tucson, Ariz. The merger took place in 1997, when a provider of home-based therapy services joined forces with a case management provider that was one of Pima County's original children's provider networks. The company offers programs under a decentralized, local model. It operates in conjunction with local and regional providers who are part of the communities it serves. The Providence network of providers has grown from serving 1,300 clients in a single state to more than 37,000 clients served from approximately 205 locations in more than 30 states and the District of Columbia.
