The mission of the Pueblo City-County Health Department is to assure conditions that enhance the health and quality of life of the citizens its serves. To achieve this, the Health Department monitors the health status of its citizens, diagnoses and investigates health problems and hazards in the community; informs and educates people about health issues; enforces laws and regulations that protect health and sanitation; links people to personal health services; evaluates effectiveness, accessibility and quality of personal health services; and researches for new insights and innovative solutions to health problems. The Pueblo City-County Health Department has been promoting the health and well being of Pueblo County residents since its doors opened on March 12, 1956. A five-member board of health oversees the general policies of the department.
