The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is operated by the Department of Medicine, which is a part of the University of Virginia School of Medicine. The division offers a range of treatment services for patients with lung cancer, sleep-related breathing disorders, and obstructive and restrictive lung diseases. It maintains a pulmonary laboratory that performs spirometry, diffusing capacity and arterial blood gas analysis. The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine also operates a sleep disorders center. The division administers lung transplant, smoking cessation and fellowship programs. In addition, it provides clinical research and patient evaluation and education solutions.
