Established in 1973, Republic Western Insurance Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of AMERCO whose other major subsidiaries include U-Haul International, Oxford Life Insurance Company and AMERCO Real Estate Company. Initially, Repwest provided AMERCO with a network of professional claims handling personnel throughout the United States and Canada. The company grew steadily throughout the 1970s and 80s and eventually expanded into other insurance opportunities in commercial and personal property and casualty business. Repwest operates in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Through Repwest s relationship with its sister company, U-Haul, it has developed a niche in the self-storage industry. The company has been insuring self-storage facility owners, operators and customers for more than 10 years.
