D.C. United is a professional soccer team that calls the nation s capital home. Playing in RFK stadium in Washington, D.C., the team is a charter member of Major League Soccer. It was founded in 1996 and competes with other professional soccer teams throughout the United States and the world. The United won the league championship in 1996, 1997 and 2004. In 1998, it won the Interamerican Cup trophy and the title Champion of the Americas. In its history, D.C. United has earned more domestic and international honors than any other American soccer team, done battle against some of the world's most famous clubs and built a loyal and dedicated fan base that understands and appreciates world-class soccer.
