Rhode Island Credit Union is a member-owned financial organization. All earnings from loans and investments, after expenses and required reserves are satisfied, are returned to its members as dividends and services. Rhode Island Credit Union is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected to office by the membership of the credit union. The Board of Directors is comprised of members from among the membership whose prime responsibility is to establish the policies under which the credit union will operate. Every member has one vote, regardless of how much he or she has on deposit. Rhode Island Credit Union is a state chartered federally insured credit union with more than $190 million in assets. It operates under strict regulatory laws that are monitored and enforced by the RI Department of Business Regulation, Division of Banking and the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the United States Government.
