Sunshine Youth Services is a youth-serving company established in 1999 by President Jim Hill and CEO Richard Semancik. The partnership emphasizes a 'hands on' approach to management and prides itself on being responsive to the needs of youth, their families, stakeholders and the community. Sunshine Youth Services operates five moderate-risk residential commitment programs in central Florida for youth ages 12-18: Gulf and Lake Academy in Land O' Lakes; Riverside Academy in Tampa; Live Oak Academy in Lakeland; Polk Halfway House in Bartow; and Columbus Juvenile Residential Facility in Tampa. All are contracted to provide services with and receive referrals from the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. The program s youth are provided a system of rehabilitative services in a therapeutic environment based on a restorative justice model that increases a youth's accountability and competency development while ensuring public safety.
