Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, located in Cleveland, has an extensive collection of rock and roll artifacts and various roster of on-going and temporary exhibits. It recognizes the contributions of those artists who have had a significant impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of rock and roll by inducting them into the hall of fame. The museum provides four main categories of inductees, including performers, nonperformers, early influences and side-men. Its nominating committee that composes of rock and roll historians selects nominees each year in the performer category. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum was established in 1983 by various leaders in the music industry, including Billy Joel, Pete Townshend, Chuck Berry, Sam Phillips, Sam Moore and Dave Pirner.
