Founded in 1923, Rowan Companies, earlier known as Rowan Drilling Company, is a provider of international and domestic contract drilling products and services. The company owns and operates a manufacturing division that produces equipment for the drilling, mining and timber industries. It has a fleet that includes more than 30 land rigs. Rowan Companies also offers services to hard-to-drill deep gas wells. The company maintains land rigs in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Alaska. Its subsidiary, LeTourneau Technologies, offers construction and repair services for rigs and equipment. In addition, LeTourneau Technologies has a steel product group that manufactures specialty plate steel.
