Hal and Ellen Kapen are from the New York City area. They were both active in the medical field in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA. In 1988, they retired to Louisville, KY area to open Royalton Kennels, a five acre dog paradise in Fern Creek.
The Kapens have had family pets since 1970 and acquired their first “show dog” in 1982. They have been showing their Rhodesian Ridgebacks since 1983 in AKC conformation and obedience events. One of their dogs was the #1 Ridgeback in conformation events in the United States in 1990. They are active members of the Louisville Kennel Club, the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States, and the American Boarding Kennel Association.
