The Safer Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1972. It is a provider of education, employment and support services to individuals with criminal records. The organization employs a work force of more than 300 people and maintains over eight locations in Illinois and Iowa. It offers substance abuse treatment, case management and employment assistance services. The Safer Foundation serves various male and female probationers, parolees and released individuals above the age of 16. It maintains the Crossroads Adult Transition Center, which is accredited by the American Correctional Association. The organization also provides drug testing, prescreening and postplacement services.
