The Salem Academy is a learning center that focuses on the intellectual, spiritual, social and personal development of girls. It has been serving students since 1772 and is located in Winston-Salem, N.C. The institution enrolls more than 200 girls in grades 9 through 12. The Salem Academy offers boarding, as well as day learning options. It employs a staff of over 45 teachers and paraprofessionals, including administrators and office personnel. The institution conducts classes in English, math, science and social studies. The Salem Academy also provides instruction in music, religion, arts and crafts, and health and physical education. It offers guidance counseling services, as well as provides options to learn fine and performing arts. The institution features several sports activities, such as basketball, cross-country, field hockey, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and track and field. In addition, the Salem Academy offers internship opportunities. It is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
