SBM Atlantia was founded in 1979 as a full service offshore engineering company. In its early years, the company distinguished itself as a leading turnkey provider of fixed offshore minimal production platforms, primarily marketed to independent oil and gas companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico and North Sea. The first SBM Atlantia designed fixed platform was delivered in 1984, and the company has supplied more than 150 fixed platforms overall. The company s focus changed in 1992 when the initial SeaStar TLP patent was issued. SBM Atlantia developed SeaStar TLP technology to reach a segment of the deepwater market where the majority of discoveries are relatively small, but plentiful. SBM Atlantia is located in Houston.
