ABOUT Schlitter Tool Screw Machine Tool Co was founded in 1933 by a screw machine operator with a better idea. The invention of the first floating shave tool holder that really worked sparked new levels of quality at screw machine plants across the nation. Well before his time, his invention eliminated the 2 leading causes of diameter variation on a screw machine: index error and infeed error. He quickly developed many new innovations including advanced dovetail slides for use in recessing ( and now our G-Series' Shaving System ) as well as better machine tool cross slides for Acme machines ( his wear-in while others wear-out ). Renamed Schlitter Tool in 1994, our company continues to design and engineer original products for the screw machine and CNC turning industrieseach designed to get more out of the machine or make life easier for the operator ( and the QC Director ). We've developed about a dozen new product within the last 2-3 years for specific machining problems and to save our customers money ( like our insert line which offers exceptional performance and the ability for customers to EDM their own inserts ).
