Established in 1993, School on Wheels provides educational assistance and support to the thousands of homeless children. Based in Los Angeles, Calif., it provides educational opportunities for homeless children from kindergarten through twelfth grade. School on Wheels operates Downtown Learning Center, which is one of the safe havens where children can escape the dirty and sometimes dangerous streets of Skid Row. The center also offers various programs, such as summer program, tutor training, bus program and academic program.
