Seaview Crab Company was formed in 2004 in Wilmington, N.C. by brothers Sam and Joe Romano. After they finished college, the brothers went into business together hoping to figure out how to make a living on the water. The company began humbly. Sam and Joe used a small skiff to fish 50 crab pots for local seafood markets. In the first year they learned quickly what most fisherman know all too well ; the hardest part of commercial fishing is not catching fish. It's finding a market for your catch. Luckily in 2005, Sam's longtime friend Nathan King joined the company and started a small roadside retail seafood market. Over the past three years the trio has worked together to find wholesale and retail markets for their catch. They continue to catch their own crabs, and they also buy shrimp, clams, oysters, and fish from other local fisherman. The company hopes that this new web presence will help bring North Carolina seafood into more homes and restaurants nationwide.
