SEI MetalTek is a privately owned operating company that invests its own capital in the acquisition and development of manufacturing companies in the metal fabrication, processing and testing industries. SEI MetalTek was founded in Houston in 1966. Originally known as Spring Engineers, it was subsequently named SEI Holdings. The company has grown over the years and has been involved in such diverse businesses as production machining, oil tool products, trench shoring devices, molded rubber products, electrical connectors, transformers, industrial real estate and venture capital investment. In 1998 the company elected to focus exclusively on the metal fabrication, processing, and testing industries. Its portfolio of companies includes Spring Engineers of Houston, Triple A Spring, Turn Key Coatings and Hopwood Globe.
