Shriners Hospitals for Children - Twin Cities, based in Minneapolis, provides pediatric orthopedic care and is part of a network of more than 20 pediatric hospitals in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Established in 1923, the 40-bed hospital is open to all children up to 18 years of age and is a short-term facility that combines medical care with innovative education and research facilities. It provides comprehensive medical, surgical and rehabilitative care for children with orthopedic conditions, including amputations and limb deficiencies, bone dysplasias, cerebral palsy, foot and general pediatric orthopedic conditions. Additionally, it treats conditions, such as hand deformities, hip conditions, Legg-Perthes and slipped capital femoral epiphyses, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, metabolic bone diseases, myelodysplasia conditions due to abnormal development of the spine, neuromuscular disorders related to muscular dystrophy and spine conditions.
