Founded in 1987 and located in Phoenix, the Southwest Key Program is a nonprofit social service organization that provides community-based programs. It has a staff of more than 700 people and operates over 40 programs in Texas, California, New York, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin and Louisiana. The organization provides counseling services and residential and educational support to young people and families of low-income groups. The Southwest Key Program includes various programs for individuals and families, such as the independent living skills program that emphasizes individual development and problem solving and decision making skills. The organization also provides the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program for individuals of age 10 to 17 years. Additionally, it operates the East Austin Community Development Project for improving the physical, economic and social conditions of members of the Austin community.
