As a father son team, we are ophthalmologist (physicians and surgeons of the eye) who specialize in eye surgery including cataract surgery and lens implant procedures, laser surgery for retinal diseases and glaucoma and other procedures of the eyelids and tear ducts. Dr. Louis M. Spencer was born in California and attended UCLA and Cornell University Medical College. He completed his internship at UCLA as well as his ophthalmology residency and a fellowship in Retinal Diseases and Eye Pathology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute (UCLA). He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of many professional organizations. He taught in the ophthalmology clinic at UCLA and is the author of numerous articles in professional journals as well as two textbooks on the subject of ophthalmology. He has been practicing in Ventura County since 1970. Dr. Gregory R. Spencer was born in California and is a native for Ventura County. Dr. Spencer was Valedictorian at Oxnard High School and Valedictorian at UC Davis where he was awarded the University Medal. He graduated from UCLA Medical School and completed his internship at UCLA-San Fernando Hospitals and his ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute (Univ. of Oregon), Portland. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of many other professional organizations. He taught ophthalmology residents in Portland and is co-author of an article in the journal Ophthalmology. He has been practicing in Ventura County since 1995.
