The St. Charles Police Department, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, prevents crime and enforces laws. It responds to emergency calls, accidents and other police-related matters. The department has various police officers and civilian personnel on its staff. It offers a variety of services, such as bike patrol, case investigation, registration, crime prevention and emergency readiness services to the residents. The department s traffic unit oversees truck traffic through the town, conducts weight checks and issues permits for overweight trucks that cause additional wear and tear on streets. The St. Charles Police Department is also responsible for ensuring the accuracy of records and archiving and dissemination of all police reports and records.
