Established in 1960, St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf is an institution providing education to the hearing impaired. The school follows a curriculum based on New York State s standards in various subjects, such as language arts, math, science and social studies. It also offers a range of programs, including art, computer, dance, physical education and media programs. The focus of the school is to develop students motor skills, prereading, prewriting, premath and communication skills. It lays emphasis on the development of language, speech, reading and auditory skills through individualized and group activities throughout the day.
