St. Joseph's Academy, founded in 1840 was formerly known as Mother Celestine s School. St. Joseph's Academy is a college preparatory high school for girls, which is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in St. Louis. The school offers education to more than 600 students in grades nine through 12. Its curriculum includes science and technology, religious studies, English, health education, mathematics, social studies, foreign languages, fine arts and physical education. The academy also offers various honors and advanced placement courses in American government and politics, philosophy, literature and composition, European history, Latin, Spanish, calculus, chemistry, physics, and anatomy and physiology. It is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and Missouri State High School Activities Association. Located in St. Louis, the academy is a member of the National Catholic Education Association, and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
