Staten Island University Hospital is a 714-bed, voluntary, nonprofit teaching hospital that occupies two large campuses in Ocean Breeze and Prince's Bay, plus a number of community-based health centers and labs throughout the borough. The 17-acre Ocean Breeze hospital features the Heart Institute, which offers advanced cardiothoracic surgeries; the Nalitt Institute for Cancer & Blood-Related Diseases; a Regional Burn Center, renowned nationwide for pediatric burn care; a recently opened state-of-the-art Emergency Department, Medical Education Center and a Diabetes Center. The Prince's Bay campus offers specialty programs that include Geriatric Psychiatry, the Institute of Sleep Medicine, and a range of behavioral health and substance abuse services. Founded in 1861, Staten Island University Hospital is currently celebrating its 150th Anniversary, enjoys numerous academic and clinical affiliations and accreditations, and is today a member of North Shore-LIJ Health System, the second largest nonprofit healthcare system in the nation.
