Established in 1983, Social Treatment Opportunity Programs, also known as STOP, is a state-approved chemical dependency, mental health and domestic violence treatment facility. It offers a range of detoxification, intensive, inpatient and outpatient chemical dependency treatment services. The facility organizes deferred prosecution and consumer awareness programs. Its additional services include mental health assessment and individual and group counseling. STOP provides advocacy and anger management services and conducts family and drug education programs for various community groups. The facility is internationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. STOP also maintains offices in Tacoma, Puyallup, Shelton and Spokane, Wash.
