The Emergency Department is located in the Emergency and Trauma Center, which is at the northeast corner of Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center.
Services/Products
Most services are provided to patients within the Emergency Department. This may include pharmacy, laboratory, and most imaging services. The imaging services include the region's first 128-slice CT (computed tomography) scanner.
The efficiency of the new Emergency Department is in part developed in a "racetrack format" to easily move and observe patients. The oval-shaped design of the department has patient rooms located on the outside wall of the oval. In the center area is an elevated resource center, where physicians and nurses can look out into their patients' rooms. This improves the overall flow and in turn, reduces wait time for patients. Most of the rooms are universal and can treat any kind of condition.
